The other day I was shopping at Costco. I noticed the TP-Link Deco mesh Wi-Fi 7 system 3 packs for $400.
It is not cheap, but it is a great price compared to the other similar products from other manufacturers.
If you insist buying American, check out the price of the similar product from Netgear. It is shockingly high.
If you want to upgrade, go for the Wi-Fi 7 instead of Wi-Fi 6E. I would like to see more Apple products supporting Wi-Fi 7 before I jump on the upgrade bandwagon. Wifi6E is always a transition product–expensive and run out of the time. Wifi7 is not possible without the introduction of wifi6E; both support 6GHz channels.
Notable dates, US under Trump administration, FCC approved opening the 6 GHz spectrum for unlicensed use in April 2020.
Others followed:
South Korea October 2020
Japan September 2022
Taiwan August 2023
Here is the quote from Google search:
“Countries and regulatory bodies—including Brazil, Chile, the European Union, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, the U.K., and the U.S.—are delivering 6 GHz unlicensed spectrum to their citizens. These announcements herald a milestone in the Wi-Fi era.”
China, on the other hand, allocated 6GHz for 5G.
Consequently, the wifi7 system sold in mainland China has 6GHz disabled.
Here is the quote from an interesting article I found:
“The 6GHz debate ‘is an important divergence of spectrum policy between the US and China,” said Recon Analytics analyst Roger Entner on his weekly podcast. “It’s an interesting expectation of where the growth will be.’”

It took some time for manufacturers in Asia to start mass producing wifi6E or 7 products pending the official approval of 6GHz usage hence the price remains high.
